1991-1999
Camp Adjutant General Richard Taylor Camp 1308
My first job as a brand new member in 1991 was Adjutant of the Taylor Camp.
At that time there was no “IHQ” to get information. Everything that had to do
with the Adjutant’s job was learned on my own and picking up the phone and talking
to General McCain. He was a wealth of knowledge for a “wet behind the ears” member and adjutant.
1994-1998 and 2002-2004
Camp Commander- General Richard Taylor Camp 1308
When elected commander of the Richard Taylor Camp there were 29 members. At the end of my
third term in 2004, the Taylor Camp had grown to 170 members. By 1997, the Taylor camp was
the largest camp in the Louisiana Division…by 2003 it was the second largest camp in the
Army of Trans-Mississippi.
1994-1996
2nd Lt. Commander Louisiana Division
1996-1998
1st Lt. Commander Louisiana Division
Serving in these two positions, my duties remained the same membership recruitment.
During these four years, the Louisiana Division membership more than doubled from
400+ members to almost 1,000 members.
1998-2000
Commander Louisiana Division
During my term as Division Commander, I learned valuable leadership skills in dealing
with politicians, the media and hate groups. My term gave me the experience in handling
the Division budget, matters of discipline and chairing conventions.
2000-2002
ATM Commander
During these two years, the Army of Trans-Mississippi won the Albert Sidney Johnston Award
twice for the most new camps formed in a year. I traveled to Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma
and other divisions in the ATM to meet with compatriots of the army.
During my term, I conducted three army meetings, one in Colorado and two in Arkansas.
I also published three department newsletters.
2004-2006
National Chief of Heritage Defense
It was during these two years, I gained the most valuable experience as a member of the SCV.
During this term I traveled to Gettysburg, PA, Augusta, GA and Richmond, VA to address
“head on” violations of our heritage. Also during my term, we were victorious in the Jacqueline
Duty case in Kentucky. At the reunion in Nashville, Tennessee, I coordinated a workshop on
Heritage Defense and Public Relations. This workshop was made available to all camps on
DVD at GHQ. Heritage violations are at the top of the list when it comes to promoting the good
name of our ancestors. During the sesquicentennial, that good name will be smeared and dragged
through the mud like you have never seen. It is imperative that we have a national leaders who has the experience on the highest level to combat those forces that we all know will surely come.
2006-2008
Louisiana Division and ATM Chief of Heritage Defense
The knowledge I gained from the previous two years was applied to the Louisiana Division and the ATM.
2006-2008
National Time and Place Committee
The experience that I had gained from previously hosting a national reunion was shared with those members across the Confederation that wished to host a national convention.
